High pressure builds across the Interior as we experience a large scale pattern change. Temperatures in Interior valleys warm rapidly through the week with highs rising to the mid to upper 60s Tuesday, the upper 60s to lower 70s Wednesday, the mid 70s Thursday, and upper 70s Friday. Temperatures this weekend may reach into the lower 80s.

A cold air mass sits above Interior Alaska. Cloudy conditions Sunday begin to diminish in the evening and overnight. Low lying areas in valleys that clear in the early morning may develop frost Monday morning. Patches of clearing skies are most likely Sunday night into Monday along the Middle Tanana Valley from Nenana through Salcha. Frost is unlikely for all but the lowest lying valleys and along rivers.

A very cold upper level Arctic low dropping south over the Western Interior will bring an anomalously cold airmass to the area through the weekend. There will be clouds, periods of precipitation and even periods of snow above 2000 feet, but low- lying areas that clear during the overnight and early morning hours will see temperatures drop quickly into the low to mid 30s.
