...SNOW RETURNS TO THE KLONDIKE... .Incoming front will push a long fetch of moisture over the panhandle. Due to cold air already in place, the passing moisture will fall as snow beginning tonight. Moderate snow will begin mainly after midnight with the snow lasting through Monday. A lull in the rates is possible Monday afternoon but rates should pick back up Monday evening. Snow will continue into Tuesday but rates will greatly lighten up due to the front exiting the area and the panhandle going into a more onshore/showery pattern. * WHAT...Snow expected. A frontal system moving into Prince William Sound early Monday morning will result in an increase in south to southwesterly winds and colder air moving up Cook Inlet on Monday. Sustained winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts 40 to 60 mph are possible from Homer north to Nikiski early Monday morning through late Monday night. Wave heights will also build across Kachemak Bay through the day Monday, leading to rough surf around Homer Spit. People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Prepare for the possibility of power outages.
