The combination of westerly winds gusting up to 25 mph, minimum relative humidity values of 20-30%, and drying fine fuels will lead to an elevated risk of fire spread today. The risk will be highest across the Capital Region, the Lake George and Saratoga region, as well as the mid Hudson Valley, Taconics and eastern Catskills. West to northwest winds gusting up to 25 mph combined with relative humidities falling to below 30 percent in the afternoon will contribute to an elevated risk of fire spread Thursday. The risk will be highest across the middle and upper Hudson Valley and Catskills regions which include the Capital Region, the Lake George and Saratoga region, as well as the mid Hudson Valley, Taconics and southeast Catskills. The annual statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14. No burn permits are issued.

Frequent snow showers will continue through this evening across higher elevations of southern Vermont, especially above 1500 feet. This may lead to locally slippery road conditions, including along portions of Route 9 between Woodford and Marlboro, particularly around and after sunset.
