Periods of freezing drizzle with a trace to .05 inch accumulation of ice is expected this morning for the Pribilof Islands The freezing drizzle has developed in the low clouds ahead of a low pressure system lifting north into the Bering Sea which is expected to bring snow showers and strong northeasterly winds gusting as high as 35-45 mph. This could lead to several hours of blowing snow through this evening, with visibilities dropping below one mile during heavier showers. Widespread snow showers and northeasterly winds gusting to 30 mph across the Kuskokwim Delta coast could lead to periods of blowing snow and reduced visibility Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. Visibilities of less than one mile is possible at times, with the potential for visibilities to drop as low as one-half mile. Please use caution if traveling during this time.

Snow chances are expected to increase later tonight for Western Prince William Sound through Saturday evening. Snow rates look to increase as easterly winds become gusty beginning late this afternoon into the evening hours. Winds along with periods of heavy snowfall early Saturday morning, could lead to visibility reductions, especially from Whittier through the Portage Valley and possibly as far west as Turnagain Pass. Prepare for winter weather and plan ahead by checking the latest forecast. If you are traveling the Seward Highway or Portage Glacier Road this afternoon through Saturday, check the road conditions before you head out.
