* WHAT...Life-threatening rip currents are likely in the surf zone. * WHERE...Northern beaches of Puerto Rico, from Aguadilla to Fajardo, and Culebra. * WHEN...Through 6 PM AST Monday. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water, where it becomes difficult to return to safety. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Latest buoy observations show pulses of the northeasterly swell spreading across the local waters. Therefore, the high risk of rip currents was extended.

Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore.
