* WHAT...A strong northward-flowing longshore current will exist at all central Florida Atlantic beaches today, in addition a Moderate Risk for dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Coastal Volusia, Coastal Indian River, Coastal Saint Lucie, Coastal Martin, Mainland Northern Brevard, Northern Brevard Barrier Islands, Mainland Southern Brevard and Southern Brevard Barrier Islands Counties. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...The northward-flowing current will have the potential to pull swimmers into deeper water and make them more susceptible to dangerous rip currents. It will also generate strong rip currents near piers, jetties, and reefs.

* WHAT...Lightning strikes on the beach. * WHERE...San Diego County Coastal Areas between Camp Pendleton and Del Mar. * WHEN...Until 3 AM PST early this morning. * IMPACTS...Lightning striking unsheltered beach visitors and objects which could produce serious injury or damage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lightning is expected to strike the beaches as a band of thunderstorms moves through the coast.

* WHAT...A high risk of sneaker waves is expected today with a moderate risk tonight into Monday afternoon. * WHERE...Beaches along Curry, Coos, and Douglas Counties. The highest risks will be to west-facing beaches. * WHEN...Through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and quickly pull them into the cold ocean waters, resulting in serious injury or death. * WHAT...A long period westerly swell will result in an increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents. * WHERE...Pacific Coast beaches. * WHEN...Through Monday evening. * IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can unexpectedly run significantly farther up the beach than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off their feet and quickly pull them into the cold ocean waters, where currents will be stronger than normal. These waves can also carry driftwood logs and other debris.

These sneaker waves can also move large objects such as logs, crushing anyone caught underneath.

Sneaker waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and quickly pull them into the frigid ocean which may lead to serious injury or drowning.
