Special Weather Statement issued May 14 at 7:35PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL

Dense fog over Lake Michigan will continue oozing inland this evening leading to widely variable but locally low visibility below one quarter of a mile. The lowest visibility should remain contained to an area within a few miles of the lakeshore this evening. However, fog may spread further inland overnight. If this occurs, a Dense Fog Advisory may become necessary. Be prepared for sudden changes in visibility to one quarter mile or less if traveling along the lakeshore this evening and overnight. If you encounter dense fog, slow down, turn on low beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead
