A few locations around the Kansas City Metro have reported visibilities over the past hour that have dropped below 1 mile, with a few spots under 1/2 mile. Expect this kind of fog for most of the night. We will continue to monitor conditions, and if it appears that prolonged periods of visibility less than 1/4 mile are possible, an expansion of the Dense Fog Advisory that is just northwest of the Kansas City Metro could be needed. Please use caution if traveling this evening. If fog ends up becoming dense, there may be slick patches of roadways with temperatures

Surface observations and webcams indicate areas of fog continue across northwest and west-central Missouri and far northeast Kansas late this morning. Fog is especially dense in Platte and Clay counties northward into portions of Buchanan, Andrew, and Clinton counties. With temperatures near freezing, a few slick spots may develop on bridges and overpasses in areas of particularly dense fog. Use extra caution when traveling. Slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance from other vehicles.
