The combination of dry fuels & low relative humidity continues to raise concerns for dangerous fire behavior on Sunday. While winds will be lighter, the dry conditions are forecast to continue being a problem. The South Carolina Forestry Commission has issued a burn ban because of this. The ban will stay in effect until further notice, which will come in the form of an official announcement from the Forestry Commission. Please act with diligence to avoid wildfires occurring.

Low relative humidity values are expected to continue through Saturday. Although winds are expected to be lighter on Friday, elevated fire danger will persist. Winds pick back up on Saturday, gusting to 25-30 mph once again. The main threat for increased fire danger will be during the daytime hours, especially each afternoon.

The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services has issued an Air Quality Alert for fine particulates for Aiken, Barnwell, Edgefield, McCormick counties in South Carolina, along with Columbia and Richmond counties in Georgia. A code orange Air Quality Alert means that the fine particulate concentrations within the specified areas may approach or exceed unhealthy standards for individuals sensitive to particle pollution.
