Disaster Recovery Centers in Aiken, Greenwood Counties Adjusting Operation Hours COLUMBIA, S.C. –The Disaster Recovery Centers in Aiken and Greenwood counties have adjusted the operating hours. The two Disaster Recovery Centers will be open Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and closed on Sundays. DRC in Aiken County, Mt. Debris Removal in Georgia Counties ATLANTA – The deadline to place all debris out to the Right of Way is approaching for Georgia homeowners and renters in Laurens, Lowndes, McIntosh and Screven counties who have storm-generated debris from Hurricane Helene. Residents should follow instructions from their local officials about sorting materials and placing on the curb for collection to have their debris ready to avoid delays or missed pickups. FEMA Offers Free Rebuilding Advice in Cocke and Hamblen Counties If you are repairing or rebuilding your home after Tropical Storm Helene, you can get free advice from FEMA to make your home safer and stronger in Cocke and Hamblen counties Dec. 9-21.  Mitigation Specialists will be on-hand to answer questions and offer home-improvement advice, along with proven methods to prevent or reduce damage from disasters. They will also offer tips and techniques on rebuilding hazard-resistant homes and provide information on flood insurance and elevating utility systems.
