Biden, Jr. Approves Major Disaster Declaration for North Dakota WASHINGTON -- FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance is available to the state of North Dakota to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by the wildfires and straight-line winds from Oct. 5-6, 2024. Public Assistance federal funding is available to the state, tribal and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the wildfires and straight-line winds in McKenzie and Williams counties. FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers Hours Are Changing in South Dakota SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in South Dakota are changing hours of operation. Beginning Monday, September 16, the hours for all Disaster Recovery Centers in South Dakota will be Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. The Centers will be closed on Sundays. Disaster Recovery Centers provide one-on-one assistance for people affected by the recent severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding. One Month Later: South Dakota Disaster Recovery Update SIOUX FALLS, S.D.– In the month since President Biden’s major disaster declaration for South Dakota, federal agencies have approved $10,570,374 in grants and loans to assist in recovery as of September 15, 2024. To date, a total of 1,162 people in Davison, Lincoln, Turner, and Union counties have applied with FEMA for assistance. FEMA has approved $6,927,074 through the Individuals and Households program, consisting of $4,683,825 in Housing Assistance for home repairs and rental expenses, and $2,243,249 in Other Needs Assistance for repair or replacement of personal property, vehicle repair or replacement

FEMA Approves $5.9 Million for North Dakota Department of Emergency Services DENVER – FEMA approved $5.9 million in Public Assistance funding to North Dakota Department of Emergency Services (NDDES). The aid comes as part of President Biden’s major disaster declaration issued in response to the severe winter storms, high winds, and flooding in 2022.  This $5.9 million in FEMA funding reimburses NDDES for administrative and other response and recovery costs during the 2022 severe winter storm and flooding disaster. This funding covers 100 percent of the eligible costs. FEMA has now approved more than $72.1 million in Public Assistance funds
