Overnight accumulating snowfall totals are estimated to range between a half inch to an inch and a half across SE MI. New accumulations of a dusting, up to an inch, will be possible through the late morning hours. Untreated roadways will be snow covered as temperatures reside in the teens. Drivers should be alert to slick roads, slow down, and allow plenty of room between vehicles.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 15 to 20 below zero. * WHERE...All of southeast Michigan. * WHEN...Until noon EST today. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills around 20 below zero can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The coldest wind chill values which now reside around 20 below zero will hold through 9 AM today.

Additional accumulation around 1 inch for event total of 2 to 4 inches. * WHERE...Southeast Michigan except for Midland and Bay counties. * WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Widespread hazardous travel conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Early evening peak snowfall rates gradually diminish leading up to midnight. A few pockets of heavier snow showers are possible trailing the main area of snow as a cold front moves through the region. Additional accumulation around 1 inch brings event totals into the 2 to 4 inch range.
