A change has been made to the incoming snow. The low in which this snow is accompanied developed about 150 miles east of previous guidance. It is actively snowing in the SE Interior and over the AK Range. Snow is beginning to spread northward from the AK Range and will be starting by 4 PM to 6 PM in most spots around Fairbanks. A change has been made to the incoming snow. The low in which this snow is accompanied developed about 150 miles east of previous guidance. It is still actively snowing in the SE Interior and over the AK Range. The main band of snow stalled just south of Fairbanks and moved east. Recent trends have made it increasingly likely for accumulating snowfall around Fairbanks from Thursday morning through Friday morning. 2 to 4 inches of snow is possible with the highest amounts expected towards Fox and in the higher terrain. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Significant blowing and drifting snow as well as whiteout conditions are expected or already occurring. St. Lawrence Island conditions will deteriorate this evening/overnight as falling snow commences.
