At 540 PM MDT, trained weather spotters reported pea to dime sized hail with a strong thunderstorms near Twin Bridges, or 14 miles northwest of Sheridan, moving northeast at 20 mph. Additional thunderstorm development is occurring across northwest Madison county with storms tracking north into southern Jefferson county through 700 PM MDT. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail in addition to lightning and brief moderate rainfall. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. At 441 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 14 miles southeast of Bozeman to 18 miles east of Ennis. Movement was northwest at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar and webcam indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Heavy snow is falling for elevations above 6500 feet. Expect visibility below a half mile at times. Locations impacted include... Jeffers, Gallatin Gateway, Bozeman, Big Sky, and Ennis.
