Warm weather has produced enough runoff into the Yellowstone River to cause it to rise and produce ice jams in Montana near Miles City. This rising water will continue to move downstream and may also break up the ice on the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers west of Williston in North Dakota. As the ice breaks up in North Dakota, the risk of water levels along the Yellowstone and Missouri rivers will increase quickly as ice blockages occur, but the periods of high water should be relatively brief and self resolving. Dry surface conditions and gusty southwest winds this afternoon will continue pose an increased threat for fire danger conditions for East Tennessee and southwest North Carolina. The risk for fire danger conditions will continue on Saturday. Relative humidity will drop to 25 to 35 percent Saturday afternoon, with wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph expected. Breezy southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph will overlap with relative humidities falling into the 25 to 30 percent range on Saturday. This will lead to an increased fire danger for portions of Eastern North Carolina. Outdoor burning is discouraged. Please refer to your local burn permitting authority on whether you can burn. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches. * WHERE...Northern Oneida County. * WHEN...Until 4 PM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The steadiest snow will be this evening, before mixing with rain overnight. Then, on Saturday, temperatures will fall from the mid 30s in early morning through the 20s during the day, icing over wet roads. Gusty snow showers Saturday will cause additional snow accumulations.
