Biden declared a major disaster for the state of Connecticut following the August 18-19, 2024 Severe Storm, Flooding, Landslides and Mudslides, more than $9 million in federal assistance has been provided by FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to support disaster recovery. As of November 14, Connecticut’s recovery assistance from FEMA includes: $9,001,961 million in FEMA’s Individual and Households Program (IHP) grants awarded to eligible homeowners and renters in three Connecticut counties. Two Weeks Left for Vermonters to Apply for Federal Assistance Vermonters affected by July’s severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides have two weeks to apply for federal disaster assistance, which may include FEMA grants to repair homes and replace property or low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. The application deadline is November 25, 2024. For the storms that took place July 9-11, residents in the designated counties of Addison, Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Lamoille, Orleans and Washington are eligible to apply. The program provides financial and other assistance to eligible individuals and households to help meet their basic needs and supplement their wildfire recovery efforts. FEMA may reimburse eligible applicants for temporary housing, home repairs to their primary home, personal property losses, medical and dental expenses related to the disaster, childcare and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.
