Alaska Transitions to ICAO Flight Plan Format The FAA transitioned to mandatory use of the international flight plan format for all IFR and VFR domestic and international civil flights in the contiguous United States in August 2019. Effective March 26, 2020, all domestic and international civil flights in Alaska must use the international flight plan format as well. The change is part of an effort to modernize and streamline flight planning and supports the FAA’s NextGen initiatives. Dave Strassburg selected as the 2021 Certificated Flight Instructor of the Year for the Eastern US!

It is my pleasure to announce that the General Aviation Awards Committee has selected Dave Strassburg as the Eastern Regional Flight Instructor of the Year for 2021. This is the second year in a row that Dave has been selected as a regional award winner. Last year he was selected by the committee for the category of Safety Representative of the Year for the Eastern US. The FAA has noticed operations at several Alaska Airports that may be contrary to published procedures for operating in and out of non-towered airport, which may lead to airport traffic issues.  AC 90-66C Non-Towered Airport Flight Operations, may help you or refresh your knowledge, for these type of operations.   PURPOSE OF THIS ADVISORY CIRCULAR (AC).
