At 841 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 15 miles northeast of Winifred, or 30 miles southwest of Zortman, moving northeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of north central Fergus and southern Blaine Counties.

AQAMT The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality alert for Blaine, Daniels, Dawson, Fallon, Garfield, Hill, McCone, Phillips, Prairie, Richland, Roosevelt, Sheridan, Valley, and Wibaux counties in effect until 9AM 6/12/2025 elevated particulate levels from wildfire smoke This alert will be updated again at 900am 6/12/2025. An Air Quality Alert means that particulates have been trending upwards and that an exceedence of the 24 hour National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) has occurred or may occur in the near future. At 835 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Lincoln, or 28 miles northeast of Drummond, moving northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Lincoln, Wolf Creek, and Canyon Creek.

Patchy fog, which was locally dense in some areas, will reduce visibilities across Hill and Blaine Counties, most notably in the Milk River Valley through approximately 9 AM MDT. Travelers should be prepared for visibilities as low as one quarter of a mile in the densest fog. Slow down, use low beam headlights, and allow extra spacing between vehicles if traveling this morning.

Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Northwest Beaverhead County. * WHEN...From midnight tonight to 6 PM MDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Cold, snowy, and wet outdoor recreation conditions expected. Roads may become slippery due to slushy roadway accumulations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Outdoor recreationists should take extra precautions and be properly dressed to avoid hypothermia from the cold and wet conditions.

Moderate to heavy snow will continue to fall across the Beaverhead and Western Madison County Valleys, with 1 to localized 2 inches of slushy snow accumulations. With surface temperatures near freezing this morning elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses, along with where roads are shaded from hills and tress, may become slippery. Travelers should be prepared for winter driving conditions, along with reduced visibilities to as low as one half of a mile. Slow down, allow extra time to travel this morning, and be prepared for changing road conditions.

Those recreating in the backcountry should prepare for winter conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Above 8,000 ft, heavy snow accumulations of up to a foot and above is expected in the Madison and Gallatin County Mountains.
