In addition, rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches with local amounts up to 2 inches will occur from this afternoon through Wednesday, and most of this will run off into rivers, as there is deep frost in the ground. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. * WHERE...Vilas County. * WHEN...From Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Whiteout conditions are possible and may make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult. A brief period of light rain or freezing rain is expected across far northern Wisconsin between 11 pm and 5 am. While air temperatures may remain slightly above freezing in some areas, roads, bridges and sidewalks are likely to drop below freezing.
