At 337 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 14 miles east of Tehachapi, or 32 miles north of Lancaster, moving west at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of east central Kern County.

* WHAT...Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. * WHERE...Mojave Desert Slopes. * WHEN...Until 5 AM PDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The greatest impact will be along US highway 395, and State Routes 14, 58, and 178.
