ESFLOT Significant ice coverage exists on area rivers. While unseasonably mild temperatures this week will facilitate some melting and breaking up of the ice, significant amounts of ice will likely remain in many rivers late this week. A storm system is likely to bring rainfall to the region late Thursday into Friday. There is still a great deal of uncertainty in how much rain will fall, but current indications are that many areas will see at least a quarter to half inch of rain. Depending on the track and strength of the storm system, some areas could see heavier rainfall

ESFPUB This statement is primarily for the Arkansas River in Fremont, Pueblo, Crowley, Otero and Bent Counties. This statement is valid from Jan 24 to Jan 30, 2025. Warming temperatures has led to the break up and movement of river ice. Accumulating river ice at bridges, river bends, or other channel constrictions may lead to jamming and elevated river levels. Flooding is not expected at this time. However, elevated river levels from ice jams can occur rapidly and with little notice. Please report any flooding to local law enforcement and emergency management, and heed caution when near the Arkansas River.
