Georgians Can Get Help Resolving Issues Using Free Disaster Legal Services Free legal counseling, assistance and/or referrals are available for Georgia residents in designated counties as they recover from Tropical Storm Debby, (damage Aug. 4–20, 2024) and Hurricane Helene  (damage Sept. 24—Oct. 30, 2024). People do not need to apply for FEMA Assistance to receive Disaster Legal Services.  Georgia residents can use this service to receive confidential, free legal assistance due to the disasters, who do not have the means to secure adequate legal services. FEMA Issues $292 Million in N.C. Public Assistance Grants FEMA has obligated more than $292 million for 47 grants to support the Tropical Storm Helene recovery in North Carolina.  FEMA’s Public Assistance program provides reimbursement to local, tribal and state government agencies for the costs of emergency response, debris removal and restoration of disaster-damaged public facilities and infrastructure.
