* WHAT...Life-threatening rip currents due to breaking waves around 6 feet. * WHERE...The exposed north-facing beaches from Aguadilla to Fajardo, Culebra, and St. Croix. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water, where it becomes difficult to return to safety.

WEATHER... * An area of snow continues to track southeastward this evening. New snowfall, combined with gusty winds up to 45 mph, will lead to periods of blowing snow and reduced visibility. New snow accumulations will be limited to less than a quarter inch due to the effects of blowing and drifting. IMPACTS... * Blowing snow may result in rapid reductions of visibility to less than one mile. * Variable snow cover and slick roadways may lead to rapid fluctuations in driving conditions.

* WHAT...West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. * WHERE...Eastern Tucker County. * WHEN...From midnight tonight to 3 PM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Lakeshore Flood Warning issued January 27 at 7:54PM EST until January 28 at 4:00AM EST by NWS Buffalo NY

* WHAT...Significant lakeshore flooding. * WHERE...Erie and Chautauqua counties. * WHEN...Until 4 AM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...The rapid rise in water levels at the eastern end of Lake Erie will result in lakeshore flooding along the Lake Erie shore. Flooding is likely along Route 5 in Hamburg, Buffalo Harbor and Canalside, Dunkirk Harbor, and other flood prone locations. Lake ice may also get shoved onshore and cause property damage.

Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds will cause tree damage and scattered power outages.
