Low temperatures tonight will drop into the teens across many areas, and remaining below freezing through mid to late Thursday morning. As a result, many roadways will be refrozen, with hazardous travel conditions expected. This includes primary roads, secondary roads, and back roads, plus bridges, and overpasses. Black ice is difficult to see and distinguish from dry surfaces. The deceptive nature of black ice can catch you unaware while you are driving or walking, causing you to lose control of your motor vehicle, or to slip and fall.

Another very cold night is in store for the area, with temperatures forecast to dip into the teens. Some shaded secondary and less traveled roads still have wet spots on them that will quickly freeze as temperatures fall. If traveling across the area tonight into Wednesday morning, including during the morning commute, use extra caution. Road surfaces that appear damp are likely to be covered in black ice. Slow down and allow for plenty of space between yourself and other vehicles if black ice is encountered.
