...SNOW RETURNS TO THE KLONDIKE... .Incoming front will push a long fetch of moisture over the panhandle. Due to cold air already in place, the passing moisture will fall as snow beginning tonight. Moderate snow will begin mainly after midnight with the snow lasting through Monday. A lull in the rates is possible Monday afternoon but rates should pick back up Monday evening. Snow will continue into Tuesday but rates will greatly lighten up due to the front exiting the area and the panhandle going into a more onshore/showery pattern. * WHAT...Snow expected. ...LOW SYSTEM BRINGS SNOW TO CENTRAL PANHANDLE... .As a low pressure system moves across the southern panhandle, higher pressure in Canada creates northerly winds cooling temperatures. These temperatures will be right around freezing allowing for snow to mixed precipitation to fall. Any snow that falls will be wet. There is a potential for most of the precipitation to fall as a mix. With the temperatures right around freezing, the potential for more snowfall has increased. * WHAT...Wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. * WHERE...Admiralty Island. * WHEN...From 9 AM to 6 PM AKST Wednesday. *

* WHAT...Southeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected. * WHERE...Prince of Wales Island, Ketchikan Gateway Borough and Annette Island. * WHEN...From 7 AM to 6 PM AKST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...High winds will blow around unsecured objects and may damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong low quickly moving east- northeast across the southern panhandle will increase winds and wind gusts. The strongest winds will be in Ketchikan, Annette Island, and southern Prince of Wales Island.
