A parade of lows in the gulf will bring moderate to heavy snow and moderate to heavy rain to the panhandle beginning Friday night and lasting into next week. For Friday night into Saturday evening, the initial low looks to park itself south of the Aleutian Islands while it swings a warm front across the gulf and over the panhandle. This will provide moisture to the far southern panhandle. With the forecasted cold air in place, the moisture would fall as snow or a rain/snow mix. ...SNOW POTENTIAL CONTINUES FOR PORTIONS OF SE ALASKA... .Lingering low pressure over the NE Gulf of Alaska will cause bands of showers to track over the area. For Petersburg, a strengthening system incoming from the west will push warm air northward Wednesday afternoon with a wintry mix. Overnight, cold air is expected to move in and transition any mix over to wet and dense snow. As more cold air moves in, snow will become increasingly fluffy and dry. For Hyder, an all snow event from the aforementioned system will move inland, bringing the main moisture feed to the Misty Fjords
