Patchy dense fog has formed across central Illinois in the last couple of hours. Visibility may fall below one mile at times through late morning, leading to potentially hazardous travel conditions. Scattered snow showers are expected to move across portions of central Illinois this afternoon, with a 30 to 50 percent chance of accumulating snow at any given location. Some of these will contain visibility less than half a mile, and will be accompanied by wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph which will produce localized hazardous travel. Light to moderate snow will overspread portions of central and southeast Illinois by mid-morning on Saturday and continue through the day. The best chance for minor snow accumulations is south of a Jacksonville to Paris line. The highest amounts are expected near the US-50 corridor in southeast Illinois, where 1 to 3 inches of snow is forecast. Snow will taper off Saturday evening. The snow could result in roads becoming slippery in these areas on Saturday. If you are traveling, slow down, drive carefully, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
