Special Weather Statement issued March 29 at 4:20AM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA
The combination of dry fuels, S-SW winds of 10 to 15 mph gusting to around 25 to 30 mph Saturday afternoon, and relative humidity values dropping to 30 to 35 percent will result in an increased fire danger threat for areas east of the Blue Ridge, and North Carolina where a burn ban is currently in effect. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly grow out of control under these conditions.
Special Weather Statement issued March 29 at 4:01AM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Relative humidity will remain higher today across western North Carolina than on the previous few afternoons. However, fine wildland fuels such as forest litter and small dead branches remain exceptionally dry. The danger of wildfires remains elevated. Any outdoor fires that are started could spread quickly and be difficult to control. North Carolina remains under a statewide burn ban.
Special Weather Statement issued March 29 at 3:47AM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC
The combination of anomalously warm temperatures, low relative humidity between 30 and 35 percent, dry fuels, and southwesterly gusts of 15-25 mph will result in an increased fire danger risk over the western Piedmont, western Sandhills, and portions of the northeastern Piedmont.
