Vermejo River Above Dawson affecting Colfax County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Vermejo River above Dawson. * WHEN...Until Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 8.0 feet the Vermejo river will overflow its banks and flood low lying land nearby. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:45 PM MDT Tuesday the stage was 4.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage just after midnight tonight to a crest of 9.4 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow morning.

Further upstream in Cimarron Canyon, water may be flowing across U.S. Highway 64 and flooding campgrounds in the canyon. Further river rises in the canyon could render the highway impassable.
