Federal Emergency Management Agency to Host Public Meeting On Preliminary Observations of the Palo Verde Generating Station Exercise OAKLAND, Calif. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Region 9 National Preparedness Division, Technological Hazards Branch announced that a public meeting will be held on March 7, 2025 in Buckeye, Arizona. The public meeting will present FEMA’s and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) preliminary evaluation observations on the performance of the state of Arizona, and the county of Maricopa, during a Plume and Post-Plume Phase exercise. The National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP) Hurricane Coastal Impacts (NHCI) project aims to document the height, extent, and timing of storm surge and waves as they evolve in the nearshore environment and dissipate across natural and man-made landscapes. The National Oceanic Partnership Program (NOPP) Hurricane Coastal Impacts project was formed to improve predictions of coastal impacts from landfalling hurricanes by providing more detailed observations of boundary conditions, offshore forcings, and coastal impacts, which reduce the uncertainties in the numerous steps within the offshore-to-onshore prediction process and provide ground-truth data to validate the models. Merrill Field Runway Safety Action Team Meeting
An Aviation Safety and Runway Safety Action Team meeting will convene April 12, 2019 to discuss operations on the Merrill Airport (MRI) and surrounding area. The meeting will begin at 5:00 PM in the UAA Aviation Technology Building Conference Room. Expect the meeting to last up to two hours. This year the meeting will include a variety of other safety related issues, topics, and concerns. Meeting About Airspace Changes at Palm Beach Airport (PBI)
The FAA is proposing to modify the airspace over Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) in Florida. Under the proposed changes, existing flight paths would not change, but where pilots are required to interact with Air Traffic Control would expand. The airspace change is to better manage the complexity and volume of aviation activities in the area. A virtual meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5, from 5-7 p.m. Eastern to provide an opportunity for public comments on the proposal’s effect on local aviation operations.
