Freezing fog will continue across the Sequatchie valley through mid morning reducing visibilities to near zero at times. Given surface temperatures below freezing areas of black ice is expected especially elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses. When traveling this morning slow down and use caution. Given yourself extra room between you and the vehicle ahead of you. The fog will dissipate by late morning giving way to mostly sunny sky and milder temperatures.

Patchy freezing fog has developed across portions of southeastern TN and the Tennessee River Valley, and southwestern North Carolina, with scattered visibilities generally less than 3 miles, and a few instances of dense fog. With surface temperatures below freezing, the risk for a thin glaze of ice to be deposited onto elevated roadways is elevated. Remember, bridges may freeze before the remainder of the roadway. The rain and snow will continue into the early morning before diminishing. Elevations above 3500 feet will see mainly snow with up to 2 inches of accumulation possible. Lower elevations will see more rain or a rain and snow mix, and in locations where snow accumulation occurs it will generaly be less than an inch. Locally higher amounts will be possible over the highest peaks.
