At 940 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The disorganized tropical disturbance, Invest 97W, is centered well west of Saipan near 16N140E. Recent radar and satellite imagery shows a much quieter pattern across the Marianas with heavy showers having pushed off well to the west of the islands after dumping 2 to 5 inches of rain over much of the region the past 36 hours. While latest model guidance still favors gradual development of 97W in the coming days, such trends will be slow and increasingly further away from the Marianas.
