CUB Airport Operations

Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE) Runways 11-29 will be temporarily closed for taxiway reconstruction.  As a result of this closure, Runways 5/23 will be used at CAE.  Because of the close proximity of the Runway 23 final approach course to traffic departing Runway 31 at Jim Hamilton - LB Owens Downtown Airport (CUB), CAE ATC advises pilots departing CUB to: 1. Contact CAE ATC on 124.4 prior to takeoff; 2. Squawk the discrete transponder code CAE ATC issues; 3. Mercer County, W.Va., Disaster Recovery Center extending operations additional week CHARLESTON, W.Va. – While the deadline to apply for disaster assistance ended Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, the Mercer County FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Princeton, W.Va., is extending its operations an additional week. The recovery center will remain open through Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, to allow applicants more time to speak face-to-face with staff about their applications. UAS Operations at CO55

Colorado airmen be advised that there are high intensity UAS operations being conducted on Christman Field (CO55) at or below 400 feet AGL.  Airmen are requested to remain at or above 500 feet AGL when overflying the airport operational area.  Situated at the base of the foothills, approximately 5 miles WNW of the Fort Collins city center, these UAS operations are being conducted both day and night.  For further information please contact Mr. Chris Robertson, CSU Drone Center Director at (970) 556-5652.

Agricultural Aircraft Operations – Stay Safe and Aware

Recently, there has been an increase in accidents involving agricultural aircraft operations. We suggest the following actions to help improve safety in Aerial Application Operations: Focus on pre-flight decisions and assess hazards during takeoff, landing and during application e.g., terrain, trees, wire, and tower hazards. Conduct field reconnaissance prior to each application. Consider terrain, obstructions, and adjacent congested areas. Note application product, type, and quantity and compute weight and balance for each load. Assess current and forecast weather including wind and density altitude. Use the IMSAFE Checklist and consider any human factors that could compromise safety e.g., dehydration, fatigue, complacency
