Light snow has ended across the region. However, temperatures have fallen below freezing and are expected to drop into the teens to around 20 degrees by Tuesday morning. Lingering moisture on area roads will lead to icy patches, especially on bridges and overpasses. Please use caution if traveling during this time period. Drivers should slow down and leave extra space between vehicles.

Another albeit much weaker upper air disturbance will impact the region Monday, with the potential of producing a light snowfall dusting up to an inch possibly in isolated locales. The snow will hit southern Illinois tomorrow morning, and impact southwest Indiana and the Pennyrile region of western Kentucky by tomorrow afternoon. Allow a little extra time and drive carefully just in case temperatures are near or below freezing when moisture makes contact with the road surface. Stay abreast of the latest updates and forecasts for any changes to this system.

This will result in total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches. * WHERE...Portions of southern Illinois and southwest Indiana. * WHEN...Until 6 AM CST /7 AM EST/ Sunday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. A narrow swath of 1 to 2 inches of accumulating snowfall is possible along and near the I-64 corridor through southern Illinois and into southwest Indiana. The best chance will be north of the interstate, where locally higher amounts may occur. The best chance of accumulating snowfall will be during the afternoon and early evening, when temperatures of the air and ground are both above freezing. This might inhibit higher totals from being realized. The event winds down overnight, when temperatures will fall into the 20s.
