Special Weather Statement issued December 16 at 4:12AM CST by NWS Quad Cities IA IL

Areas of fog, some locally dense, has been reported for areas along the Highway 34 corridor, from Fairfield, Iowa east towards Galesburg, Illinois. Visibilities down to a half mile or less is possible this morning, which could lead to hazardous driving conditions. Visibilities should improve around 9 AM this morning. Motorists should remain alert for quick changes in visibilities. Use low-beam headlights and allow extra stopping distance.

* WHAT...Significant icing expected. Total ice accumulations between one quarter and four tenths of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph. * WHERE...Jones County. * WHEN...Until 6 PM CST this evening. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible.
