..PATCHY DENSE FOG OBSERVED ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE COASTAL PLAIN AND EASTERN SANDHILLS OF NORTH CAROLINA... Patchy dense fog, with pockets of visibility of one quarter mile or less, is ongoing and is expected to continue over the next two to three hours across portions of the Coastal Plain and eastern Sandhills of North Carolina. Conditions should start to improve after 2 AM as rain begins to spread north into the area.

Patchy Black Ice tonight and early Tuesday... The melting snow today has created water runoff across area roads. This runoff will quickly refreeze during the evening hours as temperatures fall below freezing by mid-evening in many rural areas. Motorists should continue to be cautious and slow down to due to the expected black ice. It will be a cold day Tuesday. Temperatures will not reach above 32 until late morning across northern North Carolina.

Temperatures today allowed for additional melting of snow and ice. The snow and ice that did melt created runoff that will quickly freeze this evening. The temperatures will fall below 32 between sunset and 800 PM. Be extra cautious especially when walking or driving on sidewalks, parking lots, bridges and overpasses tonight through Monday morning.

Temperatures today did allow for some melting of the snow and ice. The snow and ice that did melt created some runoff that will freeze quickly freeze this evening. Otherwise, the lingering snow and ice will become very slick and solidify. The refreezing will occur quickly as temperatures fall below 32 and into the 20s between 500 PM and 700 PM. Be extra cautious especially when walking or driving on sidewalks, parking lots, bridges and overpasses tonight through Sunday morning.
