* WHAT...Life-threatening rip currents due to breaking waves up to 6 feet and occasionally higher, increasing to 10 to 11 feet during the second half of the workweek. * WHERE...Beaches of northern Puerto Rico, from Rincon to Fajardo, Culebra, St. Thomas and St. John. * WHEN...In effect through at least Thursday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Rip currents that can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water where it becomes difficult to return to safety. High waves that can wash over jetties and sweep people and pets onto jagged rocks. Rough surf may also knock you down.

The high risk of rip currents has been extended through late Friday night. Surf along north facing reefs may become hazardous at times, extending the high risk of rip currents to these reefs.
