Lowering humidity values to near 25 percent along with northwest winds gusting to 25 to 30 mph will create some near-critical fire weather conditions early to mid-afternoon across northwest Iowa and portions of southwest Minnesota. Winds are expected to trend slowly downward this afternoon which should begin to ease the approach towards critical fire weather conditions by late this afternoon.

Northwesterly winds will be sustained between 20 to 25 MPH, with gusts up to 45 MPH possible this afternoon for areas along and north of I70. Sustained winds around 15 to 20 MPH with gusts up to 35 MPH area possible for areas south of I-70. Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. Use extra caution while driving this afternoon, especially if driving a high profile. Additionally, patchy frost is possible in low lying or sheltered areas late tonight into Wednesday morning. Take precautions now to cover sensitive vegetation.

Relative Humidities of 25 percent or less can be expected for 4 or more hours this afternoon into the evening. Winds will be northwest 10 to 14 MPH with gusts up to 23 MPH. With dry fuels, high fire danger conditions can be expected. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn outside, use extreme caution.

As a front over the southeastern Bering Sea pushes north, it will bring a messy combination of heavy snow, rain-snow mix, and rain to much of Western Alaska beginning on Wednesday and running through Friday. Between 2 and 8 inches of snow may fall in coastal locations, with between 1 and 4 inches for Interior valleys. The highest totals would likely be along the YK Delta coast. Precipitation will remain mostly or completely snow above 1500 feet in the Interior. The front may set up from Golovin to Mountain Village, and there is a chance areas farther west may remain

IMPACT...Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. This strong thunderstorm will be near... Ennis and Palmer around 415 AM CDT. Cottonwood around 435 AM CDT. Other locations impacted by this storm include Ike, Telico, Stubbs, Rockett, Crisp, Rosser, Lively, Bristol, Garrett, and Trumbull. This includes Interstate 45 between mile markers 252 and 265.
