IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down small tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Hail damage to outdoor objects and vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Alma, McFarland, Keene, Maple Hill, Eskridge, Volland, Auburn, Dover, Harveyville, Paxico, and Burlingame. This includes the following highways... Interstate 70 between mile markers 324 and 348. Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 155 and 173.

Frequent snow showers will continue through this evening across higher elevations of southern Vermont, especially above 1500 feet. This may lead to locally slippery road conditions, including along portions of Route 9 between Woodford and Marlboro, particularly around and after sunset. Motorists traveling through these higher elevations across southern Vermont should remain alert for slippery roadways and reduced visibilities through this evening.

The combination of low relative humidity values between 20 and 25 percent and wind gusts 20 to 25 mph will create an elevated risk for fire spread. Exercise caution handling any potential ignition sources, including machinery, cigarettes, and matches. Any fires that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly. This forecast considers meteorological, fuel, and land conditions and has been developed in coordination with state fire and land management officials.

Southeast winds will increase this afternoon sustained at 10-15mph gusting to 25mph as relative humidity falls into the mid to upper 20s. Warm and dry conditions are expected this afternoon. Coupled with breezy winds, conditions for fire are expected to be near critical. Areas along and east of I-29 are the most likely to experience near critical conditions. Humidity levels should decrease to 20-25% this afternoon as winds are weakening. Occasional gusts of 25-30 mph may create temporary periods of critical fire conditions.
