KAVL Runway Closures and Terminal Ramp Update
KAVL will have overnight runway closures beginning Monday night (Tuesday morning, June 17) through Thursday night (Friday morning, June 20), from 0400Z–0900Z. The following initial NOTAMs have been published, with additional notices expected in the coming days. The eighth U.S. liquefied natural gas export terminal, Plaquemines LNG, ships first cargo
On December 26, 2024, Plaquemines LNG—the eighth liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in the United States—shipped its first cargo after achieving first LNG production in mid-December. Plaquemines LNG is one of two U.S. LNG export terminals that started LNG production in 2024. Corpus Christi Stage 3 (an expansion of the existing Corpus Christi LNG export terminal) also began LNG production in December 2024.
Alaska Terminal District ODO terminated
The Alaska Terminal District has terminated opposite direction operations (ODO) at most Alaskan tower-controlled airports. The only exceptions to this guidance are emergencies, operational necessity, and medical evacuation flights (MEDEVAC). The affected airports are Bethel, King Salmon, Kenai, Lake Hood, Merrill Field, and Juneau Airports. This is an interim measure until all affected facilities can accomplish a thorough review and revise operating procedures as necessary.
