HIGH-DENSITY, MILITARY STUDENT TRAINING BETWEEN MOBILE, AL AND PENSACOLA, FL 6/8/16   Use caution for high-density, high-performance, military student training in the vicinity of NFD NOLF (Summerdale Navy Outlying Field), NBJ NOLF (Barin Navy Outlying Field), 5R4 (Foley Municipal Airport, Foley, Alabama), and JKA (Jack Edwards Airport, Gulf Shores, Alabama).  Summerdale Navy Outlying Field (NFD NOLF) re-opened on 3/9/16.   These four, uncontrolled airports all lie within a 7 NM radius, and are located halfway between Mobile, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida.  This 7 NM radius is just west of the “inner ring” of the Pensacola Naval Air Station’s (NPA) Class

Know where training aircraft practice in Utah and more!

A group of Utah flight schools has come together to form the Utah Flight Training Consortium. Our goal is to promote safety in our own back yard in a rapidly growing flight training environment. One of the first products produced by the group is an interactive Google map that allows pilots to see where each school has established practice areas in order to increase situational awareness and decrease the likelihood of an accident. The website also features a monthly safety article which is written by one of the safety team or by a student at one of the schools. Please

Human Factors Training Resources for Aviation Maintenance

On May 24, 2022, the FAA published an interim final rule that establishes new regulations for part 147. The new regulations can be found here: https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2022-05-24/pdf/2022-10367.pdf The final rule also includes some changes to part 65 regulations regarding certification of mechanics. Specifically, on August 1, 2023, the FAA will begin testing mechanic applicants using the following standards: FAA-S-ACS-1, Aviation Mechanic General, Airframe, and Powerplant Airman Certification Standards, dated November 1, 2021 (Mechanic ACS). The Mechanic ACS can be found here:https://www.faa.gov/training_testing/testing/acs/ One of the new subject areas in the Mechanic ACS is Human Factors.  The Human Factors subject area is not
