Special Weather Statement issued December 5 at 12:36PM EST by NWS Upton NY

HAZARDS...A snow squall accompanied by winds of up to 50 MPH which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than one mile, and locally less than a quarter of a mile. The most hazardous conditions are expected for areas above 500 ft, where a quick coating of snow is possible on elevated and grassy surfaces. LOCATION AND MOVEMENT...At 1235 PM EST, a snow squall was along a line extending from Burlington to near Wallingford to near North Branford and moving east at 35 MPH. THIS SQUALL WILL BE NEAR... Meriden and Middletown around 1240 PM EST. Portland around 1245 PM EST.

Special Weather Statement issued December 5 at 1:58AM EST by NWS Upton NY

The back edge of precipitation has changed over to wet snow and is sticking to secondary and tertiary roadways, and any colder surfaces. A coating up to 2 inches of snow on mainly grassy surfaces has generally fallen. The light to moderate snow is expected to taper off in the next couple of hours from west to east with little if any additional accumulation expected. Exercise caution if traveling as temperatures are hovering close to freezing in some spots, especially on elevated roadways and overpasses.
