Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Special Weather Statement issued May 6 at 6:14AM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA

Patchy dense fog has developed over central and south central Virginia, and interior northeast North Carolina early this morning. Expect visibility to vary between one half to one mile, and locally a quarter mile or less. Fog should lift and dissipate between 8 and 9 AM. Motorists should be alert for sudden changes in visibility due to the areas of dense fog. Drive at reduced speeds, watch for children at school bus stops, and use low beam headlights only.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued May 5 at 6:42PM EDT until May 5 at 6:45PM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However, small hail, gusty winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for northeastern North Carolina. To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service Wakefield.

The storm which prompted the warning has moved out of the area. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However, gusty winds and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for eastern, southeastern and east central Virginia. Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for portions of King and Queen and Middlesex through 715 PM.
