U.S. uranium production in 2024 was highest in six years
Companies in the United States produced more uranium concentrate in 2024 than in any year since 2018 after a sustained period of higher uranium prices spurred production, according to our recently published Domestic Uranium Production Report—Quarterly. The increase largely came from two in—situ recovery facilities, one in Texas and one in Wyoming, and the resumption of uranium production at White Mesa Mill in Utah, the only operational uranium mill in the United States. Production in the fourth quarter of 2024 alone was higher than the total annual production for each of the years in 2019–23.

Many underserved communities in Puerto Rico have been impacted by natural hazards, especially vulnerable coastal communities. This transdisciplinary pilot effort to engage and connect with underserved communities had a participatory engagement framework that focused on providing these communities with resources improved by addressing existing communication gaps. Several listening sessions with open-ended questions were held with interested parties representing various organizations, sectors, and disciplines to gather information on the use and usability of USGS products and tools. Virginia was the top net electricity recipient of any state in 2023
Electricity routinely flows among the Lower 48 states, with almost 10% of U.S. electricity generation traded across state lines. Generation of electricity exceeds its consumption in 25 states, and excess electricity is transmitted across state lines. In 2023, utilities in Virginia brought in the most electricity from other states, with 50.1 million megawatthours (MWh) in net electricity interstate receipts, or 36% of the state's total electricity supply. Generators in Pennsylvania moved the most electricity outside state borders in 2023, with 83.4 million MWh of power shipped out, or 26% of generation in Pennsylvania.
