* WHAT...Blowing snow. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Point Lay * WHEN...Until 4 PM AKDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Large snow drifts may develop. Travel may be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong easterly winds continue through the week. Visibility may improve for short periods before dropping once again.

U.S. natural gas inventories in underground storage ended winter at a three-year low

After a relatively warm start to the 2024–25 winter heating season (November–March), colder-than-normal temperatures across much of the United States in January and February resulted in increased consumption of natural gas and more withdrawals from U.S. natural gas storage than normal. By the end of March, the least amount of natural gas was held in U.S. underground storage in the Lower 48 states since 2022, with inventories 4% lower than the previous five-year average for that time of year, according to our Weekly Natural Gas Storage Report.

Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. * WHERE...Point Lay and nearby portions of the Western Arctic Coastline. * WHEN...Until noon AKDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Blowing snow significantly reducing visibility to a half mile. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Blowing snow and poor visibility is expected to subside Monday afternoon. However, strong easterly winds and blowing snow potential returns on Tuesday and may persist through Friday.

Additional snow accumulations up to 6 inches. * WHERE...Gallatin and Madison County Mountains and Centennial Mountains. * WHEN...Until noon MDT today. * IMPACTS...The weight of snow on tree limbs and power lines could lead to tree damage and cause sporadic power outages. Tire chains may be required for some vehicles if traveling through mountain passes.

In Wyoming, Northeast Bighorn Mountains. * WHEN...Until midnight MDT tonight. * IMPACTS...Travel will be hazardous on US-14. Recreation in the high country will be impacted by heavy accumulating snow. Expect blowing snow to cause reduced visibility.

Avalanche danger may increase.

Wet snow will create slushy road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The greatest accumulations will be over grassy surfaces.
