Dry and very gusty conditions are expected to develop this afternoon. Relative humidity values will drop below 30%, and possibly below 25%, across the low terrain and mountain valleys, alongside gusts to around 30 mph. Fine fuel moisture remains very dry after only light rainfall on Monday, and these conditions will enhance the fire danger across the area this afternoon. The strongest winds and driest conditions are expected across the foothills and portions of the adjacent mountains, where a Red Flag Warning is in effect. A statewide outdoor burn ban remains in place for both North Carolina and South Carolina.

In addition, low-lying roads in Southwest Beauregard Parish are flooded including Robert Clark Road. Flooding occurs on the south side of Niblett Bluff Park with access roads to camp houses

Dry conditions and breezy winds will lead to near critical fire weather conditions from around 2 PM to 7 PM today. Northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 to 25 mph are forecast for this afternoon and evening. Minimum relative humidity values of 23 to 30 percent are also expected. Together, these conditions could lead to the rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning.
