An arctic cold front will arrive in eastern NM late Friday, plummeting temperatures and marking the start of a long-duration cold event. A quick-hitting winter storm on Saturday and Saturday night will likely create at least minor travel impacts due to snow and blowing snow in northeastern NM, including at Raton Pass. A rain/snow mix is expected to arrive in northwest Central Indiana after 6PM, before transitioning to all snow north of the I-74 corridor. The snow is expected to then depart Central Indiana late overnight. Snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches will be possible in the Lafayette, Kokomo, Anderson and Muncie areas. Amounts of less than 1 inch is expected along the I-74 corridor, with near zero accumulations south and west of there. Localized higher amounts will be possible. Snow showers and snow squalls are expected to develop tomorrow afternoon and evening across Central Indiana. These showers have the potential to produce brief periods of heavy snow, whiteout conditions, wind gusts over 40 mph, and flash freezing on surfaces. Conditions can deteriote rapidly within strong snow showers with little warning. Traveling will likely be hazardous at times, especially during the evening communite.
