Increasing moisture and instability over the Eastern Interior will bring heavy rain showers and widely scattered thunderstorms through Monday. The atmosphere over the holiday weekend will be more typical of late July than the end of May. Storms that do form today will not move quickly and may be nearly stationary, which will allow them to drop abundant rainfall over small areas. Patchy dense fog continues to reduce visibility to around one- quarter mile in spots along and north of HWY 200 and west of the Red River Valley this morning. Dense fog has been observed at Devils Lake, Langdon, and Cooperstown. While there is some improvement, travelers should be prepared for rapidly deteriorating visibility, and to use extra caution at intersections, railroad crossings, and school bus stops. The fog is expected to improve by mid-day.
