HAZARDS...Lake effect snow bands which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a mile. LOCATION...At 1005 AM EST, lake effect snow bands were affecting the northern and eastern shorelines of Huron County. LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... Harbor Beach, Port Hope, Helena, Ruth, Redman, Parisville, Huron City, White Rock, Rapson, and Grindstone City. SAFETY INFO... Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.

The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Additional lake effect snow banding becomes possible this afternoon and evening which will be capable of producing a quick additional 1 to 3 inches. Snow bands will then move offshore late tonight.

The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Additional lake effect snow banding becomes possible this afternoon which will be capable of producing a quick additional 1 to 2 inches. Snow bands will move south and out of the region late this afternoon.

The largest significant waves will be 6 feet with a potential maximum wave height of 8 feet. * WHERE...Outer Saginaw Bay SW of Alabaster to Port Austin MI to Inner Saginaw Bay, Port Austin to Harbor Beach MI, Harbor Beach to Port Sanilac MI and Port Sanilac to Port Huron MI. * WHEN...The maximum winds are expected around 5 AM EST Saturday with the largest waves expected around 6 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft.

Freezing rain continues for areas along and north of I-69. Ice accumulations of up to 0.06" have been observed at MBS International Airport in Saginaw, with additional ice accumulations of up to 0.05" possible through 9 AM EST. With air temperatures between 31 and 34 degrees and road temperatures between 31 and 35 degrees, slick spots are likely especially on untreated roadways and elevated surfaces such as bridges, overpasses, and exit ramps. Motorists should be prepared for changing road conditions and allow extra time to reach their destination. Sidewalks and parking lots may also be slippery this morning.

Lake effect snow bands will continue to impact the area through the early morning. A primary band is settling slowly southward and is now located between I-96/696 and I-94. Brief periods of heavy snowfall rates around an inch per hour will be possible within this band. In addition, reduction of visibility below a half mile will be possible. A secondary band is redeveloping along M-59 and is also drifting southward and may result in snowfall rates around one half inch per hour. Motorists should remain aware of possible changes in driving conditions throughout the morning.
