A frontal system from the Bering Sea is bringing rain and much cooler air to the area this afternoon. Snow levels will fall to around 1500 feet through the evening with snow expected down to highway level Monday night into Tuesday morning. There is considerable uncertainty as to how much snow will fall. It is likely that areas from Healy to Cantwell on the Parks Highway and from Donnelly to Isabel Pass on the Richardson Highway will see 1-3 inches, but up to 6 inches remains possible. Elevated areas will likely see the highest amounts. Precipitation will taper off Tuesday

ESFAFG The Yukon River is open from Tanana to Grayling and opening up at Anvik. Below Anvik the river is a mix of open areas and thermally degraded in-place ice. The River Watch team will be in the air over the lower Yukon starting tomorrow and will provide updates daily.

ESFAFG The Yukon River is open from Tanana to beyond Kaltag. With water levels remaining low, stranded ice remains on banks and in side channels. Above Tanana, from Ft. Yukon to the confluence with the Tanana River, the river ice remains intermittently intact and very degraded. As this ice begins moves out and water levels eventually rise, ice runs can be expected to continue through the end of the week.

ESFAFG The river ice at Hughes lifted on Friday and is thermally degraded but in-place down to Winthrop Point. Below Winthrop Point the river is a mix of degraded in-place ice on bends alternating with open stretches of water to near the mouth which is open for several miles upstream of the community of Koyukuk.

A frontal system from the Bering Sea will bring much cooler air to the area Monday along with precipitation, which is expected to begin as rain as early as Monday morning. Snow levels will fall to around 1500 feet through the day on Monday with snow expected down to highway level Monday night into Tuesday morning. There is considerable uncertainty as to how much snow will fall, but up to 6 inches remains possible. The mostly likely spots to see this would be from Trims Camp south along the Richardson Highway and between Denali Park and Cantwell along the Parks

ESFAFG Based on ice running by Galena for most of the day on Saturday, it is likely that the in-place ice from the Boneyard to the Nowitna River is getting pushed out. The river is open from Ruby down to Kaltag with continuing ice and ice stranded in shallow areas. In-place ice remains several miles below Kaltag as of Saturday evening.

ESFAFG As of Friday afternoon, ice and water continues to flow past Galena, even though there is still some in-place ice slowing it down above Pilot Mountain Slough. There are a few more short in-place sections of ice between Galena and Nulato that should not cause any significant jamming concerns. Below Nulato, the river ice remains in-place with signs of lifting and thermal degradation. The Yukon is open from Galena upstream to the Nowitna River with the exception of a small (
